BONO Artisanal Gelato

Bono means "really good really yummy gelato" as defined by a personal experience, since the accurate translation "good" or "yummy" seem like an understatement. Claiming itself as an artisanal gelato, I have no argument based on the flavors presented and the taste extracted out of them magical tubs.

I didn't take a picture since they don't display the gelato in trays, rather what you see are lids like the ones on manong sorbetero, opening them only when needed. They don't make huge batches, and only a couple of flavors are selected daily, so I'm delightfully bitter about that reality because I didn't get to taste their matcha&azuki nor their cereal&milk. Gee-Ar-Ar! What I can attest though is that despite the minor setback(not really), everything I tasted was as tasteful as it should. The very reason why it's being raved by so many foodies is not just the taste but the flavors they serve makes them less boring than other gelaterias.

Rouge (Php180.00) Has really good sauce.

Coffee Honeycomb (The coffee didn't taste instant)

At a price of Php130 per scoop, they justify their price by not compromising on flavor. Let's say their Rouge flavor for instance which claims to consist of roasted pecans and homemade toffee in a buttery gelato, topped with butterscotch sauce spiked with Elijah Craig small batch Bourbon...you get exactly that. You taste every bit of claimed ingredient, but when eaten as a whole, the flavors infuse and you are left unsatisfied with a single scoop so you come back for more. There were three of us who came to eat at Bono, we ate five cups that day. And if I was not scheduled for a medical exam the next day that could have easily been six or seven cups of gelato in one sitting. Yes, it's that good.

Their see-through lab with their expensive equipment.

Although it's quite sad that it's located in a very convenient place where hordes of passers busily cross from one mall to the next instead of a quaint cafe somewhere in the Fort (is that a yes?) I mean of course it's good for business since you get maximum exposure as it's right across The French Baker and a few steps from the poking-stick-guards, one cannot feel a certain lack of privacy as you're exposed to peering eyes of mall rats. Well...this reality will make you want to drag a friend because you will look utterly miserable if you eat alone here. Still, those staring faces shall all pass, and the important thing will be that beautiful piece of creamy delight to enjoy down to the last wooden-spoonful.
